Point of Sale

A restaurant POS system that keeps up.

Most tills came out of retail and it shows. Eclyde runs dine-in, takeaway, delivery and the platform orders on one screen, and it doesn't fall over when the broadband does.

In short

Eclyde POS is a restaurant point of sale for dine-in, takeaway, delivery, online and third-party orders on one till. It takes card, cash and contactless payments, keeps running when the broadband drops, and syncs on reconnection. Order data feeds the reporting, stock and customer tools.

Every order type on one screen

Friday, half seven. The phone's going, two platform tablets are chirping away in the corner and there's a queue at the counter. Those orders live in three different systems and somebody ends up keying them all in again, badly, while the pass backs up. Eclyde puts the lot on one till and gives each one a colour, a clock and a place in the queue.

  • Dine-in with a table plan and course firing
  • Takeaway with a collection time on the ticket
  • Delivery with a driver assigned and tracked
  • Web orders from your own site
  • Deliveroo, Uber Eats and Just Eat in the same queue

Is it fast enough for a full pass?

Thirty tickets on and a queue to the door. That's the only test that counts. Tap targets big enough for wet hands, search that finds a dish off two letters, modifiers one tap deep, and no confirmation box standing between a server and the next order. Nothing on this till needs two hands and a think.

Payments and cashing up

Card, cash, contactless, Apple Pay, Google Pay. Move a round off one tab onto another. Add a tip, run a refund, apply a code, all without backing out of the order. At close, the cash up totals your takings by payment type and does the arithmetic, so the last job of the night takes minutes instead of an argument.

What the till learns while you work

Every order tells Eclyde something. Which two dishes keep landing on the same ticket. What time the rush actually starts, which is rarely the time you'd have guessed. Who on the rota sells the most sides. That feeds the stock alerts, the customer list and the marketing, and the till stops being a cash drawer with a screen bolted on.

When the broadband goes down mid-service

It keeps taking orders. Everything rung through during the outage sits on the till and syncs the second the line comes back, so nobody's writing dockets on the back of a menu. Here's the honest bit: while you're offline, the dashboard on your phone won't show tonight's takings, because the numbers haven't reached it yet. They catch up within a minute of reconnecting, but don't stand in the car park refreshing it.

Questions, answered straight.

Can I use Eclyde POS with my existing hardware?

Usually, yes. It runs in the browser on iPads, Android tablets and touch-screen terminals, so most of what's already on your counter will run it. Card readers are the thing to check first. If yours are locked to your current provider's software they may not come across, and we'll tell you that before you sign anything rather than after. Very old tablets will feel sluggish, and that's the tablet rather than the till.

Does it handle table management?

Yes. You lay out a floor plan that matches the actual room, and the till tracks which tables are seated, which are waiting on food and which are ready to pay. Courses fire when you say so. If you're a takeaway with no covers at all, switch the table layer off and you'll never see it again.

How long does it take to set up?

Most sites are live in days rather than weeks. We do the menu build, the payment setup and the training. The one part that needs you is sign-off: somebody who knows the food has to check every price, modifier and allergen before you go live, and that's an afternoon of proper concentration. Skipping it is how a wrong price ends up on a thousand tickets.

Can I use it for multiple locations?

Yes. Every site sits under one login with its own menu, prices and reporting, and you can roll the lot up when you want the group picture. Charge €12.50 for a burger in town and €11 out in the suburb and neither site overwrites the other. Staff can be tied to one site or float across several.

Does it take Deliveroo and Uber Eats orders too?

Yes, into the same queue as everything else, so the kitchen works off one screen rather than a windowsill of tablets. The platform orders keep their own commission and their own customer, that part is out of anyone's hands, but at least nobody is re-keying them at half eight on a Friday. Most sites run both for a long time and shift the mix gradually.

Do I have to close for the changeover?

No, but pick your day. Go live on a quiet Monday or Tuesday rather than a Friday, keep your old till plugged in and switched on for the first week, and put one extra person on the floor for the first two services. Nobody is slower on a new till because the software is bad. They are slower because their hands do not know where anything is yet, and that takes about three shifts.

What happens to my data if I leave?

You take it with you. Menu, sales history, customers, stock counts, all exportable in formats that open in a spreadsheet, and there is no charge for the export and no notice period before you are allowed to run it. Ask any till provider that question before you sign with them. The answer tells you a lot about how the rest of the relationship will go.

See it run your restaurant.

Twenty minutes on your menu and your numbers. We'll show you what actually changes in the first month and exactly what it costs. If it's not right for your restaurant, we'll tell you that instead.

  • Live in days, not months
  • We build your menu and train your staff
  • No contract, and thirty days to change your mind
