For Takeaways

One queue for every takeaway order.

Between seven and nine you do most of the day's takings. Eclyde puts the phone, the counter, your own website and the apps into a single queue, so nothing gets lost in the middle of it.

In short

Eclyde runs a takeaway on one queue: phone, counter, your own website, and Deliveroo, Uber Eats and Just Eat orders on the same screen and the same kitchen display. Direct orders carry no commission on the Flat Rate plan, and driver dispatch, delivery zones and live tracking are included.

How do you stop missing orders during the rush?

You know the shelf. Three tablets, three different chirps, and somebody holding the phone under their chin while they retype a Deliveroo order into the till. At ten past eight, with fourteen tickets up, that is where orders go missing. Every one that goes missing costs you the food, the refund and a one-star review that outlives both. Eclyde puts every channel into the same queue and onto the same kitchen display, so there is one list, in order, and nothing to retype. The tablets can come off the shelf once you trust it, and not before.

What does marketplace commission actually cost a takeaway?

Do the sum on your own numbers rather than ours. Commission commonly runs 25 to 30 percent per order when the platform handles the delivery, less when you deliver yourself, and rates vary by contract, so check what you actually signed. On a €25 order at 28 percent that is €7 gone before you have paid for the chicken. The same order through your own page costs you the card fee and your share of a flat monthly bill: €169 a month billed annually, or €199 monthly, both at 0% commission. Above roughly €2,800 a month in online sales, that flat plan is the cheaper one.

Can I run my own drivers instead of paying for delivery?

Yes, and Eclyde gives you the parts you need: zones drawn street by street rather than as a lazy radius, a different minimum order per zone, two drops batched onto one run, and live tracking so the customer stops ringing the restaurant to ask where the food is. Driver floats reconcile at cash up with the card takings. Here is the honest limit. Below about twenty delivery orders a night, your own driver sitting waiting usually costs more than the platform's cut, so most restaurants run both for a season and shift the balance as the direct volume builds.

Can I keep Just Eat while I use Eclyde?

Yes, and most restaurants should at first. Marketplace orders flow into the same queue as your direct ones, so you are not choosing between them. Keep the apps for the customers who only ever order by app, and work on moving your regulars across.

How fast is order entry on a busy night?

A repeat customer is a few taps: search their phone number and their last order comes up attached to it. A new order with modifiers takes about as long as the customer takes to say it, which is the real limit. Nobody has built a till that is faster than a man deciding between curry sauce and gravy.

Does it handle cash, card and cash on delivery?

All of them. Card, contactless, Apple Pay, Google Pay, online payment and cash on delivery. Cash up at the end of the night reconciles the drawer, the card takings and each driver's float in one go, and that cash up is the number to trust.

What happens when the internet goes down at eight o'clock?

The till keeps taking orders and syncs when the line comes back. The exception worth knowing is card authorisation, which needs a connection eventually on any system, so keep a float.
