The maps that are not Google.
Apple Maps is the default for every iPhone user who taps an address. Most restaurants have never claimed theirs.
In short
Claim your restaurant on Apple Business Connect and Bing Places, then make the name, address, phone, hours and category match your Google profile exactly. Both are free. Apple matters because it is the default map on iPhone, and Bing matters increasingly because its index feeds several AI assistants.

Why Apple is worth an hour
Every iPhone that taps an address opens Apple Maps by default, and a large share of your customers use one. If your listing there is wrong or unclaimed, those people get bad hours, a wrong pin, or a competitor. The traffic is invisible in your analytics, which is exactly why it goes unnoticed for years.
Why Bing is worth another hour
Bing's own search share is modest, but its index feeds other products, including several assistants that answer questions about local businesses. Claiming the listing is a short job and it puts your correct details into a second major index rather than leaving them to be guessed.
What to set on both
Nothing exotic. The same details as Google, written identically, plus a category as specific as the platform allows. Then the two links that matter: your ordering page and your menu. Both platforms let you add actions, and an unset action often defaults to something you did not choose.
- Name, address, phone exactly as on Google
- Full hours including holidays
- Most specific category available
- Order and menu links pointing at your own site
- A few current photos
Do it once, then diarise
These are set-and-forget listings, which is their appeal and their risk. Nothing prompts you when they go stale, so put a reminder in twice a year alongside your Google check. The most common failure is hours that were right when you claimed it and wrong ever since.
The honest limitation
Neither will transform your trade. Google is still where the volume is, and if you only have time for one profile, spend it there. These are worth doing because they are free, quick and permanent, not because they are a growth lever.
Questions, answered straight.
Not covered here? Just ask us.
How do I claim an Apple Maps listing?
Through Apple Business Connect, using an Apple account and a verification step for the business. It is free and typically takes a few days to verify.
What if the pin is in the wrong place?
Both platforms let you drag the pin once you have claimed the listing. Worth checking, because a pin on the wrong side of a building sends delivery drivers and customers astray.
Do I need to post updates on these?
No. Keep the core details accurate and leave it. Posting is not where the value is on either platform.
Is it worth listing on smaller directories?
Only ones that actually rank for your town or that customers genuinely use. Bulk directory listings add noise rather than value.
